Restoration work continues
As you may have noticed, work on restoring the GFC web site took a few small steps forward today. The calendar, and its related “Upcoming Events” widget, has been restored to the site. Unfortunately, I have not yet restored all of the calendar entries. I’ve added recurring events for our worship services, for our (almost) two Sunday School/Christian Education classes held on Sunday mornings, and our Wednesday evening activities held every week (Prayer Meeting/Bible Study and Fun & Friends). I’ve also added entries for our monthly carry-in lunch and monthly meeting.
I also added a page with information about our location, including a Google Map embedded on the page. The old site had a page describing our meeting times, but that seems kind of redundant with the calendar on the site, so I probably won’t add it back.
I have also added a Contact Us page with e-mail addresses for J Causey and A Corbett and a short description. As I get additional information for some other individuals, I’ll add them to the page.
Besides adding the Calendar, you might note that I’ve added a little widget that should show up on all pages and posts allowing you to share whatever it is you are reading via a variety of social media services (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.). In the background I’ve added a plug-in that is supposed to prevent harvesters from gathering the e-mail addresses on the web site. And, I added a plug-in that let me setup a page with links to the most recent blog posts.
Please note the following change in e-mail address – grahamfriendsweb(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)gmail.com is going to be abandoned for webmaster(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)grahamfriends.org. The GMail account is not needed for the calendar any longer and now that I have some background access to the site, I was able to setup an @grahamfriends.org email for administrative purposes.
