Just a quick note to let folks know that several sermons have been uploaded to the web site and are now available. I’ve got a couple months backlog I am trying to work through (yes, need to work on the discipline of getting these processed). For now I concentrated on getting the ones uploaded that I had good notes on. The others that need to be processed will take some time as I will need to listen through the message. The new ones should help anyone who has been looking for on-line audio stay busy for a little while. Just head over to the Sermons page to access them.
You may have noticed something new in the sidebar – Recent Sermons. I have been working during the summer months to figure out how to re-establish sermon audio on the web site. Work has been slowed by a variety of issues. But, I think I may have finally made some real progress. I’ve installed a new plug-in to manage the audio files and make them available on the web site. Now I just need to get all the audio uploaded and entered into the system. Once that is done, I may end up needing to tweak the settings a bit so they display in the right order. The sidebar will only show the most recent five sermons. Please use the Sermons link at the top of the page for access to all of the sermons.
Please forgive the quality of the recordings. The quality probably varies quite a bit as I am learning how to use different audio software to process the messages to get them into an mp3 format.
Hopefully this will help folks who are homebound, traveling or not otherwise able to make it to our services on Sunday mornings access the sermons and hear the message. Pastor Ryman indicated the audio files were one of the most popular parts of the old site, so I am glad I am finally getting this restored. If you are not a regular member of Graham Friends Church, listening to the messages may help you get a little taste of our services (with the caveat that we are using interim pastors at the moment).
Thanks and God bless!!!
For our upcoming Homecoming celebration scheduled for September 9, 2012, the North Carolina Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, based out of Burlington, will be conducting an honor guard ceremony. During our service, we will recognize any members of the church or their family members who are or have served in the military. We have a sign up sheet available at our Worship services for anyone who would like to list someone for recognition. If you are not able to make it out to a Worship service during August, please let us know via e-mail to webmaster(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)grahamfriends.org.
As the title indicates, Homecoming for Graham Friends Church will be held on September 9th this year. Be sure to mark your calendar and start spreading the news.
As you may have noticed, work on restoring the GFC web site took a few small steps forward today. The calendar, and its related “Upcoming Events” widget, has been restored to the site. Unfortunately, I have not yet restored all of the calendar entries. I’ve added recurring events for our worship services, for our (almost) two Sunday School/Christian Education classes held on Sunday mornings, and our Wednesday evening activities held every week (Prayer Meeting/Bible Study and Fun & Friends). I’ve also added entries for our monthly carry-in lunch and monthly meeting.
I also added a page with information about our location, including a Google Map embedded on the page. The old site had a page describing our meeting times, but that seems kind of redundant with the calendar on the site, so I probably won’t add it back.
I have also added a Contact Us page with e-mail addresses for J Causey and A Corbett and a short description. As I get additional information for some other individuals, I’ll add them to the page.
Besides adding the Calendar, you might note that I’ve added a little widget that should show up on all pages and posts allowing you to share whatever it is you are reading via a variety of social media services (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.). In the background I’ve added a plug-in that is supposed to prevent harvesters from gathering the e-mail addresses on the web site. And, I added a plug-in that let me setup a page with links to the most recent blog posts.
Please note the following change in e-mail address – grahamfriendsweb(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)gmail.com is going to be abandoned for webmaster(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)grahamfriends.org. The GMail account is not needed for the calendar any longer and now that I have some background access to the site, I was able to setup an @grahamfriends.org email for administrative purposes.
As you can see, the site is in a bit of disarray at the moment. We recently transferred the site to a new server and things did not go as planned. We are working on restoring as much of the old site as we can. We thank you for your patience!
