30-day Plan 90-day Plan 365-day Plan Chronological Plan Our mission at Graham
Friends is 1: to be disciples of the Savior Jesus who
faithfully listen to and walk through this life with the God
of the Bible who calls such students his friends (John
15:15) 2:
to show othersin our own community, throughout our state
and country, and to the uttermost parts of this world that God
so loves (Acts
1:8;
John
3:16)how to enjoy
this blessed relationship of Master and student, God and friend
3: to the end that we may all enjoy Gods guidance
and friendship forever. ![]() Step 1 The first step on the journey of discipleship is an introductory video on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. At the end of the video an invitation is extended to contnue the journey. If the message of the video (that being a disciple means spending one's life becoming like Jesus) makes sense you may make the commitment of going further in the journey. ![]() Step 2 The
second step of the discipleship journey involves learning the
basic message of the New Testament and beginning to learn to
read the Bible. A
30-day reading program developed by the publishers of the English Standard
Version (ESV) is used. This "Readers' Digest" approach
helps you quickly learn the basic message of the New Testament.
The reading plan takes about ten minutes a day and you are encouraged
to underline passages that stand out in your reading and circle
words you do not understand. These passages are then discussed
in a weekly gathering of students often a Sunday School
class or other small group. ![]() Step 3 The third step in your journey toward discipleship is teaching on the "Basics of the Faith." These central teachingshighlighted by the Apostles Creed include Faith, God, Creation, Jesus, Salvation, the Trinity, the Church, and Heaven. ![]() Step 4 The fourth step toward discipleship is a two-session discussion of those things peculiar to Graham Friends Church. Not all churches are exactly alike so we make the attempt to point out how we are differentand how we are alike. By this point, each student should understand the revelation of God in the New Testament, the core teachings of his Church, how those beliefs are practiced at Graham Friends, and whether s/he wants to pursue a friendship with Jesus here. At this poont, students of Jesus often make one more step and become members of the church. |
