Byron
Shore
Missionary
to Brazil
Byron
Shore's minstry here is working with children at the Casa de
Apoio, teaching
English, helping with homework, making friendships, and playing
with them.
Waterfall of Souls is a small farming
community Byron and the children travel to (about an hour drive)
on Sunday mornings for Sunday School. There are no Protestant
churches in the city though they have a piece of land and hope
to build a church. For now they meet in the town square.
Byron also receives short term
mission teamsgroups of up to 20 and sometimes simply one
person comes to help.
There is a translation component
to Byron's ministry too. He translate materials for evangelistic
purposes, distributing them for free to the people.
Here is a booklet by Melody Green
that Byron translated
to help bring "perspective"
to the Catholic mind.
He
also does theatrical things such as puppets or trying to help
the church's drama team in aquiring things that could be useful
for them. Currently, Byron is working with ventriloquism and
would like to purchase a doll to help attract crowds and minister
to them.
Hospitals are substandard where
Byron ministers so he helps where he can, especially in visiting
patients. He tries to make a difference by equipping them with
medical books and making contacts to bring medical supplies as
well. He hopes that if they see that he cares care about them
and their concerns that they will listen when he speaks about
their eternal estate.

Byron with his own children

The kids at the Casa
de Apoio where Byron now lives. They are standing beside a "make
do" Christmas tree. These are kids from very bad backgrounds;
they sleep here during the week. Byron teaches them English and
spends time with them.

Byron with the director of the public hospital and Dr. Marcelo,
a surgeon there. She
wanted to meet him because she couldn't believe that they would
be receiving
medical booksno strings attached.

Byron has been getting
medical books donated and shipped there so
that they can save lives.

Dr.Marcelo

The newest reference books there
are 20 years old.

praying at the christmas service

Byron received a girl for a mission trip the week of Christmas
through the 1st of January. She and Byron's helper, a doctor
from Rio, came and stayed at the Casa de Apoio. They visited
the hospital and
the children with cancer and HIV.
